Chaos release smooya due COVID-19 preventing him from joining team in the states
Chaos Esports Club’s star AWPer has been released. Owen “smooya” Butterfield is currently back in the United Kingdom and unable to play for Chaos due to visa troubles caused by the current outbreak of COVID-19.
“The ongoing pandemic has placed his visa interview on indefinite hiatus, and has stopped him from being able to compete with the team in the United States. Smooya will be searching for a new team to play for immediately. ,” Chaos said in a tweet regarding their decision.
smooya had only been with Chaos since January when he joined in place of Gage “Infinite” Green. The British player mentioned when this situation led to his benching that the roster was finally in a place he was “happy with” after changes had been made.
Logan “Voltage” Long who was provided on loan from Triumph to fill the void left by smooya will continue to play with the team for the time being.
It is unknown as of this time whether or not the squad is working to make it a more permanent setup or if they’ll be on the hunt for a main AWPer. Shahzeb “ShahZam” Khan is still in North America and on the market as an option.
