Does the Triumph Gaming roster deserve some attention from the CDL?

Over the weekend, the Call of Duty League held three separate events for the CDL Challengers circuit. Each event was for a different region, being North America, Europe, and APAC. Last night, all three winners were crowned after Triumph Gaming took home the NA crown. Team WaR and Renegades won the event for Europe and APAC, respectively. Of course, a little more attention was on the NA region, as that’s where a majority of Call of Duty takes place. As viewers watched the NA event, many were wondering if the Triumph Gaming players deserve a spot in the CDL.

Does Triumph Gaming deserve more recognition?

Throughout the 2020 CDL season, Triumph was one of the better teams in North America. The squad, which consisted of different players all year, won two separate Home Series events. However, they were usually in the running for most events, placing top four at multiple other tournaments.

However, at the CDL Challengers Finals, the team put it all together to take down the best in the region. While Triumph is made up of former professionals, the win was impressive nonetheless.

The fact that the roster is made up of former pros is what has everyone talking. There are some in the community who feel at least a few of the Triumph Gaming players should be on an official CDL roster. Players like Tyler “FeLo” Johnson, Matt “Royalty” Faithfull, and Eli “Standy” Bentz all performed marvelously for the entire year. However, this didn’t result in a call from any CDL team.

With 2021 rapidly approaching, there should be a few Triumph Gaming members receiving some attention from the big leagues. After all, players like FeLo and Royalty have proven in the past they have what it takes to be a professional. Along with that, teams saw huge success with giving amateurs a shot in 2020, so perhaps Standy could get a look as well. Time will tell if their performance at the CDL Challengers Final will net them a spot on a Call of Duty League roster.
