German Brewery Warsteiner Sponsors ESL One Cologne 2020: Online
Global tournament organizer ESL announced Monday an official supplier partnership deal with German brewery Warsteiner for ESL One Cologne 2020: Online. In addition to sponsoring the $500K USD prize pool Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competition, the companies will launch the Warsteiner Music Contest in which participants will compete for the opportunity to have their song played during the event broadcast as well as have it signed by ESL and Universal Music Group’s record label Enter Records.
Warsteiner has sponsored multiple ESL tournaments since 2018 including last year’s ESL One Cologne. Due to restrictions on alcohol advertising in sports in Germany, Warsteiner’s activations at ESL events have focused on its alcohol-free products.
As the name suggests, ESL One Cologne traditionally takes place in Cologne, Germany, but was delayed and eventually moved online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. At last year’s event, Warsteiner presented a live music show, and the company will “bring this experience to a digital stage in 2020,” according to a release.
