One Game Agency to Host $175K Dota Pit EU/CIS Online League, TikTok and Others Named as Sponsors

Croatia-based esports tournament organizer One Game Agency (OGA) announced that the company will run an online Dota 2 competition called AMD SAPPHIRE OGA DOTA PIT EU/CIS from Sept. 20-26. The competition will feature ten esports teams from Europe and CIS region, including OG, Team Liquid, and Team Secret, and a $175K USD total prize pool.

The competition has six sponsors including semiconductor company AMD and Hong Kong-based technology company Sapphire Technology as title sponsors, while short-form application Tik Tok, Hyper X, AOC, and Betway have been named official sponsors. The competition will also stream on the Chinese streaming platform DouYu.

OGA’s Dota Pit series competition was one of the Minors in Valve’s Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) system. The competition’s 2019 edition was hosted at Spaladium Arena, the Croatian city of Split, featuring $300K total prize money, and 500 DPC points. European team Ninjas in Pyjamas (NIP) won the competition and also qualified in MDL Disneyland Paris Major.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, Valve’s DPC tournament system is completely disabled. Though Dota 2’s annual event The International has broken esports prize money records with more than $36M in total prize pool money, Valve decided to cancel this year’s Stockholm TI and postpone it to 2021. Valve’s lack of communication and support provided to third-party organizers caused massive criticism of the company. Earlier this month, Valve acknowledged the communication issues and claimed that it will provide “help and financial support” to third-party organizers.

The Esports Observer has reached out to OGA to confirm more information, and will update this article if we receive a response.
