A Hyperdimension Neptunia Anime Is Coming To Steam

Idea Factory will be bringing Hyperdimension Neptunia: The Animation to Steam sometime this Fall with two compilation episodes and an OVA. Both will have new translations, and will also include the opening and ending tracks from Hyperdimension Neptunia, mk2, Victory, and Re;Birth 1-3.

When the series releases on Valve’s platform, it will have a Japanese voiceover with English, Traditional Chinese, or Simplified Chinese subtitles. Sorry dub fans! A dub, however, was previously published by Funimation, who released the series on Blu-ray and DVD prior. You can also watch it on their streaming service right now.

The compilation will include Hi☆Light: Crystal of Light and Hyperdimension Neptunia Hi☆Light: The Blazing Bifrost, which round up Episodes 1-13 of the anime, and then the OVA Summer Vacation.

According to the Anime News Network, the compiled anime was streamed on YouTube for Japanese viewers on May 15. It was then available on PlayStation Video and Bandai Channel. This will be the first time Western fans will be able to watch this version of the show.

Here’s a trailer for the Funimation version:

Hyperdimension Neptunia: The Animation features a different take on the game’s story, and uses the world and the characters to make a new narrative.

In this anime, the four realms of Gameindustri (Planeptune, Lastation, Lowee, and Leanbox) come together to form a friendship treaty after many years of the console wars. Yes, this series plays with the idea of consoles from SEGA, PlayStation, Nintendo, and Xbox being characters. They each promise not to attack each other over a resource called “share energy,” and live in an age of peace. However, a new threat is just around the corner for all four realms that might have them band together.

David Production, the studio behind the adaptation, has worked on some notable shows in the past, like Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Cells at Work! and Fire Force. They have an impressive pedigree, for sure,

Fans will likely binge this Hyperdimension Neptunia anime series on Steam as they wait for the series’ next-gen installment, which has been revealed as Go! Go! 5 Jiden Game Neptune re★Verse. We’ll be getting more details about the game next month.
