Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ First Official Manga Arrives In September

Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ first official manga is set to be released in September. Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Vol. 1 Deserted Island Diary, a comedy manga will explore the lives of the villagers that inhabit your islands when you’re offline.

The new manga will feature a number of eccentric villagers, as well as advice on being a standout island representative. Animal Crossing has so far seen several manga spinoffs, but this will be the first translated to English. New volumes of Deserted Island Diary are expected to be released twice a year, with the first volume, published by Viz Media, arriving on September 21.

In October 2019, Nook Tails, a tie-in comic strip series by Cho Hanayo featuring the characters Tom Nook, Timmy, and Tommy, was serialized on the game’s Japanese website. An English-language translation of the series was posted the game’s English Twitter account last spring.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a life simulation game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch in 2020, is the fifth main game in the Animal Crossing series. In New Horizons, players control a customizable character who moves to a deserted island. The game, which takes place in real time, allows players to explore the island, gather and craft items, catch insects and fish, and develop a community of anthropomorphic animals.

New Horizons, which sold 31 million copies worldwide, broke the console game record for most digital units sold in a single month with five million copies. The 15th best-selling video game in history, the best-selling game in the Animal Crossing series or in the life simulation genre, and the best-selling Nintendo Switch exclusive title, the game touched a chord with video game fans during the COVID-19 pandemic as a means of escape.

At launch, Nintendo revealed that Animal Crossing: New Horizons would receive frequent updates, most based around real-life events and holidays. Following the release of a free update on January 28, and the Festivale event on February 15, Nintendo has announced another free update for March.
