Animal Crossing Release Date News: Nintendo Direct Trailer and Gameplay Updates from E3
Nintendo has been quiet about the exact content of this year’s presentation, but have stated that the show will be taking ‘a look at Nintendo Switch titles for 2019’. Nintendo has labelled a few games with a 2019 release date so it’s likely that the show will reveal new information about those titles.
But what about games set to be released in 2020 and beyond? Well, given that they really do have so much slated for a 2019 release date, Nintendo could easily get away with only talking about this year’s games. That might not stop them from dropping a few tasty hints about their future plans though.
Animal Crossing 2019 – What We Know So Far
Animal Crossing 2019 is the next instalment in the hugely popular Animal Crossing franchise. At its core, Animal Crossing is a relaxing life-simulation which allows players to manage their own town in a colourful world full of quirky animal characters.
Animal Crossing New Leaf (released on 3DS in November 2012) was the last game released in the franchise, a massive six and a half years ago! But a Nintendo Direct from September 2018 revealed that Animal Crossing 2019 was on its way to Nintendo Switch.
The short announcement trailer centred on Tom Nook, a well-known character from the Animal Crossing franchise, sitting behind a desk. The reveal came directly after Isabelle (who is the mayor’s assistant in New Leaf) was revealed to be the newest fighter in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate line up.
Tom Nook comments that he has ‘to make sure everyone has a nice, new place to come home to when they’re ready’ confirming fan hopes that a new Animal Crossing game was on the way. Little is known about the content of the game, with Nintendo keeping their cards close to their chest. That is until this year’s E3, where Animal Crossing is expected to be a huge part of Nintendo’s presentation.
But what can we expect to find out about Animal Crossing 2019? In a word, everything! From a title and gameplay to mechanics and characters, this E3 conference is widely expected to give us a total overview of the game we’re getting later this year.
Additionally, with the success of Animal Crossing Pocket Camp for mobile devices and Happy Home Designer for 3DS, we can probably expect to see some of their best elements incorporated into Animal Crossing 2019’s gameplay.
It’s also worth noting that Animal Crossing games have always featured a new style with each new instalment. While we don’t know what this game’s ‘hook’ will be, we can expect to find out very soon.
Animal Crossing 2019 – Release Date
So far, the newest Animal Crossing game does not have an exact release date, but it is currently listed to be released sometime during 2019.
It’s entirely possible that we’ll be seeing the game released during the holiday season of 2019, and there are widespread hopes that Nintendo’s E3 conference will reveal an exact release date.
With Animal Crossing New Leaf released in November 2012, could we be seeing another November date for this new instalment? It would certainly make sense for Nintendo to launch such a big game in the traditional ‘holiday slot’ to maximise sales.
