Annie Wersching, The Actress Who Played Tess In The Last Of Us, Has Died Age 45
Annie Wersching, who was best known for playing Tess in The Last of Us and Renee Walker in 24, has sadly passed away at the age of 45 after being diagnosed with cancer in 2020.
As reported by Deadline, Wersching's publicist confirmed that the actor had passed away at the age of 45 earlier today. Wersching was diagnosed back in 2020, but continued to act in The Rookie and Star Trek: Picard in the years following her diagnosis. Tributes to Wersching have poured in since the news of her passing hit, including her husband Stephen Full.
Full said, "There is a cavernous hole in the soul of this family today. But she left us the tools to fill it. She found wonder in the simplest moment. She didn’t require music to dance. She taught us not to wait for adventure to find you. ‘Go find it. It’s everywhere.’ And find it we shall. As I drove our boys, the true loves of her life, down the winding driveway and street, she would yell BYE! until we were out of earshot and into the world. I can still hear it ringing. Bye my Buddie. ‘I love you little family…’ “
Neil Druckmann, co-president of Naughty Dog and director of The Last of Us, shared a tribute on Twitter, saying, "Just found out my dear friend, Annie Wersching, passed away. We just lost a beautiful artist and human being. My heart is shattered. Thoughts are with her loved ones."
Troy Baker, who plays Joel in The Last of Us, also shared a tribute on Twitter, saying, "Never waste an opportunity to tell someone you are grateful for the simple gift of knowing them. Annie, so much of Tess is what you imbued into the character. Your strength is her strength and in some way, you live on in not only her but the many roles you brought to life."
A GoFundMe has already been set up and raised over $30,000 to help support her family after their loss.
