Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access Begins In September

The time to gather your party and venture forth is almost upon us, though it’s a little later than originally expected, as Baldur’s Gate III will officially enter Early Access on September 30, 2020.

Baldur’s Gate III is the long-awaited third entry in the legendary RPG series that uses Dungeons & Dragons rules. The new game uses the fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons rules and it’s set over a century after the events of Throne of Bhaal, so fans should expect to explore a new iteration of the Forgotten Realms, in a journey that will pit them against fiends and mind flayers.

Baldur’s Gate III now has the most tentative of release dates, or rather, the Early Access phase of the game now has a solid date. Larian Studios recently hosted the “Panel From Hell” on its YouTube channel, featuring several key staff from the game. It was revealed during the show that the Early Access period for Baldur’s Gate III will begin on September 30, 2020, on both PC and Google Stadia.

The Early Access version of Baldur’s Gate III won’t be a full version of the game. It will give fans an early look at the game as it’s still in development, as well as actively helping the producers as they work on the project. The Early Access version of the game will contain the first of three Acts, with the other two being saved for the full version of the game. There will be around twenty-five hours worth of content in the game, as well as six classes to choose from, and five origin characters that can be recruited. According to the Steam page, the game is expected to be in Early Access for around a year.

Baldur’s Gate III is one of the most highly-anticipated games of 2020, but it seems that fans will only have a chance to experience a portion of its story this year.

Baldur’s Gate III will be available in Early Access on PC and Google Stadia on September 30, 2020.
