Call of Duty Modern Warfare update: New patch notes confirmed for COD download

COD gamers need to download a new Call of Duty Modern Warfare update tonight.

The new patch from developers Infinity Ward went live earlier today, December 11, and doesn’t contain any new content.

This is to be expected following the playlist changes made yesterday, which included bringing the Infected Mode online.

More content changes are expected in December but today’s Modern Warfare update is focused on bug fixes.

Fans may also notice error messages popping up on PS4, Xbox One, telling them that a new update is required to carry on playing.

There has been plenty of feedback from fans on what needs to be fixed in the latest Call of Duty game.

And each week since launch as seen new tweaks made, including weapon rebalancing and the removal of map glitches.

Problems with certain weapons not appearing correctly in-game have now been fixed, as have other cosmetic issues.

Infinity Ward has also made it easier to follow challenges in Modern Warfare, following feedback from fans.

The full patch notes can be found below and have been sourced directly from Infinity Ward.

  • Fix for the R9-0 Smoothebore not appearing correctly in-game
  • Fix for the “Smooth Dominator” not appearing correctly in-game
  • Fix for the “Heat Cycle” weapon not appearing correctly in-game
  • Fix for a bug where equipping the “Old Wounds” LMG could cause an error, kicking players out of the menu
  • Operator challenge descriptions have been updated to indicate that a specific Operator must be equipped in order to complete the challenge

  • If you reached a new rank while in the middle of a match and perform the criteria to complete a challenge you just unlocked, progress would not show in the UI until you entered a new match. We’ve done some backend work to help improve this.
  • Fix for Objective 2 of Mara’s Operator Mission showing a placeholder name ‘Desert Work’ for the reward
  • Fix for Wyatt’s Calling Card appearing with the incorrect rarity
  • Fix for the Cluster Strike’s missiles getting stuck on surfaces without detonating and playing looping audio the remainder of the match
  • Fix for exploits in Special Operations: Survival

And this won’t be the only big Call of Duty Modern Warfare event being held this week by Activision.

The first-ever CODE Bowl has also been scheduled and is set to kick off on Friday, December 13.

Activision confirmed in a new statement: “In further support of its #HireHonor campaign and celebrating its 10th year of putting veterans back to work in meaningful jobs, the first-ever CODE Bowl is coming.

“The action begins at 10AM PST on Friday, December 13 on the Call of Duty Twitch channel, and features eight teams, each captained by a popular streamer along with members of the U.S. Army esports team.

“Each team includes a featured streamer and two active duty service members, and each streamer will raise donations on their channels on behalf of the Call of Duty Endowment.”
