Call of Duty Modern Warfare update: Patch notes confirm huge COD Warzone Xbox download
Today’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare update is out now and weighs in differently depending on which platform you use. If you play on PS4 and PC, the Infinity Ward patch notes for COD Warzone confirmed that it will take up under 2GB. However, if you’re playing on Xbox One, today’s Modern Warfare update will weigh in at a whopping 66GB.
It’s an outrageous different in size and is reportedly tied to the Microsoft patch delivery process, gamers have to redownload files they already have on their consoles.
This means you’re essentially re-downloading a large chunk of COD Warzone today to make way for some bug fixes.
It’s unclear why this event doesn’t happen with every Call of Duty update but developers Infinity Ward have tried to explain the situation, telling gamers:
“Due to an unforeseen bug with the Microsoft patch delivery process, this download requires Xbox users to redownload files they already have, but it does NOT impact the overall install size.
“We’re working closely with Microsoft to ensure future updates are smaller in size. Here are the file sizes Xbox One players can expect to see after downloading today’s update: Warzone Only: 99.5GB – Full Game (WZ/MW): (up to) 183GB.
“If you’re looking to free up hard drive space on your console, you have the option to delete content you may no longer wish to use in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.”
So if you’re wondering what kind of massive content expansion is part of today’s large Call of Duty Modern Warfare update, we’re going to have to disappoint you.
As confirmed by Infinity Ward in the new patch notes, Today’s update addresses a few bugs, but primarily fixes the issue of weapon models corrupting on screen.
This has been an issue for much of Season 5 and makes it difficult to play.
The message from the dev team adds: “We appreciate everyone in the community for their bug reporting and all of the details you sent us regarding this issue, so thank you again for your support and for your patience while we worked to resolve this issue.”
The full patch notes can be found below and it should be noted that no content changes have been found by gamers:
