Destiny 2 Season 14 Will Introduce New Perks, Weapon Archetypes, And Exotics Changes

Every now and then, players find weapons in Destiny 2 that are a little overpowered in certain activities compared to the rest of the weapons. These need to be tuned down so other weapons get the chance to shine. This is what Bungie is planning with the new sandbox update coming in Season 14 of Destiny 2. With this update, Bungie is finally buffing Linear Fusion Rifles, changing some exotics weapons, weapon archetypes, and some perks in the game.

Firstly, let’s talk about the weapon archetypes changes coming with this update. Starting season 14, 120 RPM hand cannons in the game will see a “damage and aim assist falloff distance reduced by between two and four meters, based on the Range stat.” This will halve the range buff these hand cannons received in Beyond Light expansion.

There are some changes to Vortex Frame swords as well. In Season 14, full energy Heavy attack on these sword types will consume six ammo instead of four. Furthermore, Chip damage, which allows some swords and Bastion exotic fusion rifle, to DPS even with the shields on the enemy will be completely removed from the swords and Bastion.

Now, moving on to perks. Quickdraw perk will be changed drastically in Season 14.  Starting next season, Bungie will replace Quickdraw perk with Surplus on all new and existing Felwinter’s Lie and Astral Horizon shotguns. Also, the handling bonus the players receive will not be removed one second after switching the weapon or aiming down sights. This is probably one of the major PvP changes coming to Destiny 2 that will change the current meta in the Crucible.

Frenzy has also got some nerfs in bonus damage. Previously getting +20 bonus damage, now Frenzy will get +15 bonus damage. A very interesting perk change that’s coming in Season 14 is on – Reservoir Burst. For those unfamiliar, Reservoir Burst is the pinnacle perk on the Loaded Question fusion rifle which was added in Black Armory expansion. Now, Loaded Question will do a total of 25% more bonus damage on full battery (down from 33%).

  • Upcoming content requires revisiting the Power Level of a damage perk that can be activated simply by having a full magazine.

There are two exotic weapons that are seeing some updates in season 14 too. The first one is Bastion; starting season 14, Bastion will be able to stagger Unstoppable Champions. Also, Bungie has increased the spread angle on this weapon by 13 percent.

The second exotic change is The Lament exotic sword. In Season 14, The Lament will do 16 percent less damage on revved Heavy attacks.

That’s it for the new sandbox changes revealed in TWAB this week. Season 14 is five weeks away from now. We’ll get more details on the new seasonal story as we get closer to the release date.
