Drop + THX Panda Wireless Headphones Now Support SoundID

Sonarworks today announced a partnership with Drop that will see its SoundID technology integrated into Drop + THX Panda Wireless Headphones. This new functionality will let you create custom presets, personalizing your listening experience based on individual preferences and hearing ability.

Drop + THX Panda Wireless Headphones were already regarded as some of the best wireless headphones on the market. Featuring audio free of distortion and wires, the headphones incorporate various technologies – such as a THX AAA amplifier and phase-correct planar-ribbon drivers – to deliver an authentic listening experience. Drop’s partnership with Sonarworks is hoping to further elevate the listening experience with SoundID. Using the free SoundID app, you can create a unique profile based on your hearing ability and listening preferences – which is then automatically saved to your headphones.

“We’re excited to team up with Sonarworks to expand the features of Panda,” said Chief Product Officer of Drop, Will Bright. “With the inclusion of a parametric equalizer, listeners can tune their SoundID profile and create separate EQ profiles. Once loaded via the SoundID app, those profiles are managed by the DSP cores in Panda, so the EQ is applied no matter what source you use.”

While the Panda headphones are an audiophile’s dream, they’re also well-specced for a bit of gaming. Beyond its impressive lineup of audio technology, the Panda headphones are compatible with an optional boom mic – which includes a built-in volume slider, mute switch, and a noise-canceling condenser microphone. They might not be as well-known as Turtle Beach or HyperX, but its long list of specs makes it a serious contender for a spot next to your gaming rig.

That is – if you don’t mind its steep, $400 price tag. However, that price tag comes with a lot of fancy tech behind the earcups, including:

  • Impedance: 26 ohms
  • Sensitivity: 100 dB @ 1kHz / 1mW
  • Isolation: -40 dB
  • THX-AAA-0 Amplifier: -130 dB THD, 2.6 uV A-wt noise, 10mW power consumption
  • Frequency Response: 10-50,000 Hz
  • Driver Unit: 55mm, ribbon planar magnetic
  • IPX 6 waterproof
  • 30-hour battery life

SoundID enabled Drop + THX Panda Wireless Headphones are now available for $400.
