Epic Games Store’s Next Free Game Is Idle Champions Of The Forgotten Realms

Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms will be free on the Epic Games Store from April 29 to May 6. The Dungeons & Dragons strategy management game will replace Alien: Isolation and Hand of Fate 2 – both of which are currently available for free.

Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms will also give away the Epic Champions of Renown content during the above dates, which the developer says is an additional “$100 value add-on.” Both new and existing EGS members are eligible for the free game and add-on pack.

Developed by Codename Entertainment, Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms is a licensed Dungeons & Dragons strategy management game that pulls together characters from various novels, campaigns, and shows into a new adventure. This upcoming offer includes the Epic Champions of Renown pack, which provides you with the following in-game content:

  • Unlocks for the following Champions: Spurt (Slot 3), Krull (Slot 6), Black Viper (Slot 7), Hew Maan (Slot 8), and Nova V’Ger (Slot 11)
  • Spurt Chests: 16 Gold Spurt Chests with 2 guaranteed Shiny equipment cards
  • Krull Chests: 16 Gold Krull Chests with 2 guaranteed Shiny equipment cards
  • Black Viper Chests: 16 Gold Black Viper Chests with 2 guaranteed Shiny equipment cards
  • Hew Maan Chests: 16 Gold Hew Maan Chests with 2 guaranteed Shiny equipment cards
  • Nova Chests: 16 Gold Nova Chests with 2 guaranteed Shiny equipment cards
  • Two Familiars: Baby Spurt & Iris the Beholder

Epic continues to offer impressive value to users of the EGS, going as far as spending nearly $444 million on exclusivity deals to bolster its catalog. It also gives away free games on a weekly basis – although some weeks are a bit underwhelming compared to others. Still, a free game is a free game.

While games continue to be the centerpiece of the platform, Epic has shown interest in turning the Epic Games Store into a full-fledged app store. The company recently added Discord, Brave, Itch.io, and Spotify in an attempt to diversify its portfolio and bring in new users.
