EVO 2019 schedule: Live stream, tournament times, games lineup, new DLC announcements

Fans are counting down to the start of the EVO 2019 fighting games event in the US.

Taking place from August 2 until August 4, the Evolution Championship Series (otherwise known as EVO) is the longest-running tournament dedicated to beat-em-ups.

In addition to Street Fighter 5 Arcade Edition, games showcased at the event include Samurai Showdown, Soul Calibur 6, Tekken 7 and Mortal Kombat 11.

That’s on top of Dragon Ball Fighterz, plus Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Blazblue Cross Tag Battle.

Fighting fans can watch the entire event free of charge, simply by hitting play on the Twitch live stream below.

The event kicks off at 6pm UK time later today, where participants will duke it out in a number of the biggest and most popular fighting games.

The Soul Calibur 6 finals will take place at 8pm local time, which means UK fans will have to stay up until 4am BST on August 3.

The second day continues with more qualifying rounds, plus the top 8 finals in games like Dragon Ball Fighterz, Samurai Showdown and Mortal Kombat 11.

The Dragon Ball Fighterz final starts at 9pm UK time, followed by the Smurai Showdown finals at midnight and the Mortal Kombat 11 at 4am BST.

The final day is the big one, featuring the Street Fighter 5, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Tekken 7 and Blazblue Cross Tag Battle.

It starts with Blazblue at 5pm UK time, followed by Street Fighter 5 at 8pm BST, Tekken 7 at 11.30pm BST and Super Smash Bros Ultimate at 3am BST on August 5.

To celebrate the big event, Microsoft and Sony are letting fans download and play some of the games featured at EVO for free.

PS4 owners can download the free Street Fighter 5 trial from now until August 11.

The free trial includes the base game with 16 characters, as well as the content from Season 3.

Xbox One owners, meanwhile, can download and play Dragon Ball Fighterz until 7.59am on August 5.

EVO event organisers have also promised some big announcements during the event, while Capcom has revealed plans to release Street Fighter 5 DLC on the final day.
