FIFA 20: Bad News for Man Utd fans is great for Liverpool ahead of next PS4, Xbox release
With the Women’s World Cup coming to an end, and the transfer window seeing players move for ridiculous amounts of money, we’re just two months or so from FIFA’s latest release, FIFA 20.
The EA Sports sales juggernaut is one of the best-selling titles in the world, consistently outpacing its rival Pro Evolution Soccer.
Although, not all FIFA 20 fans are going to be best pleased, as one of the biggest teams, not just in the UK, but in the world, won’t be fully represented in the upcoming EA Sports title.
Konami’s PES franchise has stolen a march on their competition this season, by signing Manchester United to a long-term partnership.
What this means is that Old Trafford, the almost mythical home of the Red Devils, will be captured in incredible detail for Pro Evolution Soccer 2020 – but won’t appear in FIFA 20.
Sorry United fans, if you want to see Ole at the wheel you’ll only be able to do so with PES 2020, sorry, eFootball Pro Evolution Soccer 2020,
While Pro Evolution Soccer has struggled for licenses, this could mean that one of the world’s most popular teams is finally faithfully recreated in the game – although you’ll still be pitting them against their cross-city rivals Man Blue.
The upshot (if you support Liverpool) is that the red half of Merseyside are no longer tied to PES and can now feature in the upcoming FIFA 20 release.
Manchester United’s talented youngster Scott McTominay is an official PES 2020 ambassador, too, and he had this to say:
“It’s a real honour for me, and I’m really excited to get the partnership underway. I’ve been playing the game a lot and the graphics look absolutely amazing”
He fancies his chances against his teammates too, saying “No matter what games we play, if it’s cards against Victor or a game on the PlayStation or Xbox, I fancy myself to be right up there!”.
Interestingly, Konami seems to have secured the rights to Manchester United Legends such as David Beckham, too. It’ll be interesting to see whether he makes an appearance in FIFA 20’s incredibly popular Ultimate Team mode.
Other licensed clubs in this year’s game include Arsenal, Camp Nou, Boca Juniors, River Plate and Palmeiras.
EA had a quiet E3, but FIFA 20 was shown off. The game will feature a new game mode called Volta Football, focusing on FIFA Street-esque football, full of tricks and scraped knees.
Meanwhile, Pro Evo will feature a new Matchday mode which will offer an important match or derby game each week and players can pick sides as to who they want to represent. In fact, PES 2020 won Best Sports Game at this year’s E3.
PES 2020 launches on 10th September, while FIFA jogs onto the pitch on 27th September. We can’t wait to see how this rivalry plays out.
