Fortnite update 10.30 patch notes: Shell Item and server downtime coming
FORTNITE UPDATE 10.30 CONFIRMED
The team at Fortnite has finally announced when the next update is set to drop
Fortnite update 10.30 and patch notes are scheduled to arrive Septemeber 11 (today) at 0800 UTC, which is 9am BST for anyone in the UK.
As expected, being a bigger update to the game, server downtime will be required.
Although, we're not sure what to make of the reference to breaking out of shells. Fans on Reddit (jokingly, we hope) have suggested that the game will add a blue shell similar to that from Mario Kart.
Only in this instance, it would seek out the top player in the game and deal 200 damage with a blast radius the size of retail.
We dread to think…
In other news, the Fortnite competition twitter account also announced a change, telling fans:
"Due to the timing of the 10.30 update, the Cash Cups for Asia & OCE scheduled for tomorrow (September 11th) will be moved to Monday, September 16th in order to avoid as much interruption as possible."
Stay tuned for more news and official patch notes in the coming hours.
FORTNITE UPDATE 10.30 DELAY
The next Fortnite update hasn't been announced, let alone released, so we're going to assume it won't arrive until Wednesday or Thursday.
Stay tuned for more updates, likely later this evening if Epic finally reveal when the weekly update will drop.
That said, keep reading for all the changes we're still expecting to see implemented with the next update.
Original Story – It's that time of the week again – the time we start bracing ourselves for a big ol' Fortnite update and speculating about what the fine folks over at Epic will be bringing to the game this time.
Over the past week, we've seen some interesting changes to the game. Last week saw the arrival of a content update that reintroduced some points of interest to the map, followed by a surprise update that made a 'cosmetic change' to the game.
So Epic has been rolling out more content than usual. But that doesn't mean we're not going to get a big ol' patch this week, too – one that will require the game to be taken offline for a small while.
We're anticipating the new patch will be named update 10.30 and will bring some pretty large changes to the game, too.
We've already seen the IT crossover appear in-game over the past week, so we imagine Epic isn't going to want to overshadow the horror collaboration. But we can't say that for certain.
The patch will likely go live tomorrow (as Epic has got back on track with Tuesday updates) but we could also see the patch land on Wednesday or Thursday.
We'll let you know as soon as we find out – in the meantime, here's what may be coming in the patch.

Fiend/Zapper Shield update
There has been an issue that's manifested in Fortnite over the last few days where Fiends and Zapper Traps can be exploited to farm mroe shileds than you should be able to gather in a short space of time.
In Retail Row, if a player throws a few Zapper Traps on the ground next to a Fiend spawn beacon, Fiends will spawn in and die instantly, giving off a lot of shield boosts.
Epic has acknowledged the issue, saying: “We’re aware Fiends are destroyed by traps when outside of the Retail Row POI, but are investigating why they aren't attacking your Zapper Trap consistently.”
Consideirng Zapper Traps were added and removed in Season 3, before being added back in again later, it's safe to say that the item has caused Epic devs their fair share of headaches.
Expect to see this issue resolved in a future patch.
Splatoon x Fortnite?
One of Nintendo Switch’s most popular new IPs could be the next crossover Epic will be featuring, if leaked data is to be believed.
After searching through the Fortnite's files following the last week's 10.20 Content Update, now (in)famous data miner Lucas7yoshi uncovered a series a hints that the ink-based team shooter will be coming to Fortnite in some way.
Some files refer to new skins that will let players represent 'SquidKids' in the game, and we can likely expect some sort of Splatoon-inspired LTM, too.
We don't know too much about this yet, but we'll update you when we hear more.
As ever, there will be bug fixes in the new update. Thanks to the Fortnite Trello , we know what we can expect from the game's incoming update.
Here's what Epic will be fixing in the new update:
• Several cosmetics and pickaxe effects are not rendering properly
• Flag Not Dropping in CTF
• Siphon effect missing in Creative games after being queued for Playgrounds
• Higher ping and latency in Creative Mode
