Gears 5 release date confirmed for September with Terminator DLC

Gears 5 has been confirmed to release on 10 September this year, with special Terminator DLC for early adopters.

During Microsoft’s E3 presentation, Rod Fergusson from developer Coalition took to the stage to debut a brief teaser for Gears 5, which emphasised some kind of psychological turmoil for lead character Kait Diaz.

This, however, wasn’t the focus of the announcement, with a new 3-player co-operative mode Escape being shown off in a new cinematic trailer.

In the mode, you play as ‘hive busters’ and are tasked with planting a bomb and escaping the hive together against the approaching explosion and enemy hordes.

They also teased how you’ll be able to ‘build hives’ for the mode too, indicating some kind of stage creator will also be included.

The developer is scattering more reveals for the game too in the coming months, promising a multiplayer tech test in July, with reveals of new game mode Arcade to follow before the September release date.

For those who play the game in the first week, they’ll also get access to DLC Terminator: Dark Fate, which features characters from the movie franchise.

Kait Diaz, who was first introduced in 2016’s Gears Of War 4, will be the main character in Gears 5, with existing characters Marcus Fenix, Delmont Walker, and JD Fenix also appearing.

Gears 5 will be released 10 September On Xbox One.
