Hideo Kojima Has A Cameo In Cyberpunk
Just days away from the official release of Cyberpunk 2077, it has been discovered that gaming legend Hideo Kojima has a cameo in the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 has a lot of real-life crossovers. Not just with prominent celebrities, but also with more “mundane” things like drink orders and cartoons from the 90s. Of course, the person that everyone knows of is sci-fi hero Keanu Reeves. However, the game also pays tribute to the gaming legend, Hideo Kojima, in a small cameo early in the game.
The visionary storyteller and director behind Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding makes his appearance just a few hours into the game—hiding in the corners of a hotel lobby, while he’s pitched various movie ideas. The report of Kojima’s appearance comes from Gameinfomer, where we are told that you will need to do a little exploring to find him.
V’s first legendary mission (called “The Heist”) will take you Konpecki Plaza for the first time. Upon reaching a hotel in the area, your partner for the mission, Jackie, will want to go straight to the room to drop off the luggage that he’s carrying. If you tell him that you’ll be doing some exploring, you’ll be able to find Kojima. He will be in the hotel’s bar, off to the left of the hostess stand, sitting on some couches.
Cleverly, his character goes by the name Oshima which means “big island” in Japanese. Kojima, in contrast, means “little island.” Oshima is indistinguishable from Kojima, at least as far as current graphics are concerned, so you know you’ve found the right guy when you spot him.
With over 175 hours of gameplay, there are bound to be more easter eggs to be found within the game. If Cyberpunk holds up to Kojima’s standards anyway, it’ll mean that people will be finding small details and easter eggs for at least the next year.
Exploration will be the name of the game until Cyberpunk’s multiplayer comes out, so we’re looking forward to seeing what other secrets Night City holds.
