Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 Returns With New Arcade Machine
Marvel vs Capcom 2 is getting an arcade machine courtesy of Arcade1Up, delighting fans as it brings an end to the 13-year-long wait for the game to return with any sort of online capabilities.
The cabinet will soon be available to pre-order on the Arcade1Up website and will include eight different games from across the series, including both Marvel vs Capcom and Marvel vs Capcom 2 that were removed from the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 storefronts. Other titles the cabinet will include are Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter, X-Men vs Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men: Children of the Atom, X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse, and Marvel Super Heroes in War of the Gems.
The most exciting aspect of the cabinet though is the built-in Wi-Fi Play. Not only is Marvel vs Capcom 2 finally able to be played online once again, this cabinet even has online leaderboards on which you'll be able to post your high scores. Pre-orders for the cabinet will open up on September 8 and Arcade1Up promises they'll ship a few weeks after that. There are no prices available just yet, but similar cabinets on the Arcade1Up website are priced at around $499.99.
In related news for fighting game fans, EVO 2022 has just kicked off and several publishers are apparently gearing up for announcements during the event. Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, and Tekken's publishers all revealed that they're going to announce some new info about the future of their respective franchises during the event, but Mortal Kombat fans shouldn't get their hopes up. Series creator Ed Boon has already told fans that there won't be any big Mortal Kombat-related announcements, so don't go into the event expecting as much.
It's also the first time that MultiVersus will appear at EVO 2022, but LeBron and Iron Giant mains might want to look away now. If you were hoping to see professional displays of your favorite characters, that won't be happening, as both LeBron James and Iron Giant have been banned from the game's first competitive outing.
