Need for Speed 2019 reveal: What time will new NFS game be shown? How to watch trailer?

It’s almost two years since we got a new Need For Speed game – but it’s one of the most wanted racing sequels around.

Need For Speed Payback (the series’ most recent incarnation from 2017) was a fun racer, but it came with a lot of problems – namely a strangely restrictive progression system and an over-reliance on quick-time events.

Back in June, EA Community Manager Ben Walke responded to a PlayStation Europe tweet about World Emoji Day with a series of police cars chasing a vehicle, sirens blaring.

We thought that was something of a tantalising tease at the time, and now it looks like EA is gearing up (pun intended) to show us what it’s been working on over the few years.

That’s right: the official Need for Speed website has been updated with a countdown, and the timer ends on Wednesday, August 14 at 1pm BST.

You can bet we’ve got our eyes glued to the screen ahead of the game’s reveal.

It’s also important to note that the reveal date is set only a few days ahead of Gamescom 2019, so you can also likely bet that there’ll be some sort of information blowout there.

Games industry host-in-chief and all-round gaming hype man Geoff Keighley has announced he’ll be at the show out in Germany, taking names and revealing games (well… maybe just the latter). It’s already confirmed that EA will be one of the attendees to his show, so fasten your seatbelts and prepare to get your asphalt whooped.

EA noted in its latest financial report that a new Need for Speed title is set to launch for consoles and PC sometime between October 1 and December 31 this year… and now it looks like we’re firmly on that path.

As ever, we’ll keep you updated as more information begins to present itself.
