PS Plus May 2019 news, PS4 free game boost and new PlayStation Store deals
Unfortunately for PS Plus gamers waiting to hear more about what will be released during May 2019, Sony isn’t expected to make its announcement this week.
Instead, PlayStation Plus subscribers will probably need to wait another week before they get the big free game news.
However, until then, there are plenty of new PS4 game deals to look out for, both in North America and Europe.
Sony is currently running a PlayStation Store Flash Deal, dropping the price on some top titles.
The Flash Sale, living up to its name, will only be available until 8am PDT on Monday, April 22.
So PS4 gamers only have a short time left to grab discounts on titles like God of War, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Spyro Reignited Trilogy.
There are over 60 games included in the new sale, meaning fans should be able to find something of interest.
“Spring is in full swing at PlayStation Store with all of the fresh smells of a flash sale – like a field of wildflowers sprinkled with fighter jet fuel from Ace Combat 7, teeming with the enemy factions and hideous beasts of The Division 2 and Metro Exodus,” a message from PlayStation reads.
“Okay, so maybe don’t go into that field. Instead, head over to PS Store this weekend for savings up to 50 percent.”
Over in the UK, the PlayStation Spring Sale is still ongoing and includes some top games.
Sony has refreshed the game list to offer new titles since it first went live earlier in April. Games like Fortnite Save the World and Fallout 76 are now included, as well as a number of games that boast PS Plus discounts.
These are stacked on top of the existing Spring deals, meaning you can buy them at a further reduced price.
Marvel’s Spider-Man is included in this list of PS Plus discounts, as is Horizon Zero Dawn – the complete Edition.
And if there are no titles in the various sales going on today that fit your fun criteria, there are still a few free games to pick up.
As part of the PS Plus April 2019 lineup, fans can download and play Conan Exiles and The Surge on PS4. And Conan Exiles appears to have seen a surge in new players since the game became free on the PSN.
Developers Funcom revealed as much on Reddit, telling fans: “Since the free weekend on Steam and the current PS4 Offer with Conan Exiles being free for PS Plus users for the whole month, we had a HUGE influx of new players.
“Thank you so much for joining us on this journey and thank you for letting your friends be a part of this experience as well. Reddit, the forums and other channels have been exploding with experience recaps and first impression topics, screenshots and questions.
“Many of you Veteran Exiles have stepped up to help the newcomers with tips and tricks. We see you and thank you for taking the time to welcome and help new players into the fold.”
So it’s probably the perfect time to jump into a server and build a massive new base of operations.
It should also be noted that there are no new titles for PS Vita and PS3 as they are no longer included in PlayStation Plus. Both games are expected to be available in the PlayStation Store until May 7, which is when the big monthly refresh is expected to happen.
The downside to this is that the new PS Plus May games will not be going live until then, meaning a slightly longer wait than usual.
