PS4 and Xbox gamers can download and keep one of 2019’s best new games for free!

Every year FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) go head to head for footballing supremacy on your console and PC.

However, for the last few years, EA Sports FIFA product has proved to be an insurmountable giant that Konami's footballing team simply could match.

Sure, the game itself is fine, better than fine, in fact, it's consistently one of the best sports games year after year.

But for the vast majority of PS4 and Xbox players, it's just not FIFA, regardless of the games 'E3 Best Sports Game' award.

That's why this year, Konami decided to release a brand new and completely free 'lite' version of the game.

They also rebranded it eFootball PES 2020 (for some reason), which to be honest everyone largely ignores. It's still PES. Always has, always will be.

It's also the only place you'll find the exclusive rights for Juventus, with FIFA forced into calling the club 'Piemonte Calcio' and unable to use the official Juventus shirt and badge also.

The lite version of the game released first on Xbox One and Steam, but last night arrived on PS4 to complete the holy gaming trinity.

This 'lite' version of the boxed game still includes the same core gameplay, it's just missing a few of the luxury modes like Master League or Matchday Mode.

But for someone wanting a quick kickabout, it's more than serviceable.

"eFootball PES 2020 LITE maintains the high-quality, authentic gameplay of the full game whilst expanding its audience to those who are yet to experience the latest game," Konami brags.

You also don't need to worry about missing out too much on the main game, because as Konami explain you still have a lot of the games most recent gameplay improvements.

"eFootball PES 2020 LITE boasts all the full version’s gameplay improvements, such as Spanish midfielder Andrés Iniesta’s ‘Finesse Dribble’ technique, alongside the beautiful, industry-leading graphics that keep players immersed in the action."

Here's a bit more info about what is available in the game, courtesy of Konami so there's no confusion. There's also a complete rundown of all the content available at the bottom of the page.

"Players will be able to participate in myClub and Matchday, as well as play real-time online matches against owners of the full version. Players will be able to enter time-limited competitive events and enjoy some of the very best high-intensity esports gameplay.

"Local and Co-op matches will be available to eFootball PES 2020 LITE owners. Also, users can participate in football’s most accessible esports competition – eFootball.Open, an esports tournament open to all players, competing exclusively in 1v1 matches. As with eFootball PES 2020, players will utilise the Matchday mode to select one club during the registration period that they will use, and then compete during the tournament."

So look, it's a pretty good deal you get to play, download and keep one of the best new games of the year, absolutely free.

That sounds like a good deal to us.
