Rainbow Six Siege’s Next Season Called Crimson Heist, Teases New Character

Rainbow Six Siege’s upcoming Operation is called Crimson Heist, according to an announcement on its official Twitter page. The brief message includes a short video, which seems to reveal a new character joining the roster later this year.

“Getting the job done can sometimes require a more creative approach,” reads the post. It’s accompanied by a mysterious character shrouded in darkness, with only their glowing red glasses visible. You can also make out a bit of their attire – featuring a heavy jacket and a newsboy hat – along with the silhouette of palm trees in the background.

For now, that’s all we’ve got. Every season of Rainbow Six Siege usually brings with it a set of new characters, maps, and bug fixes, but so far the developers are keeping quiet. It’s possible that the mysterious operator has some sort of destruction-based special ability, as you can see sparks flying in the video below:

Whether those are from some form of welding device or a full-blown explosive is anyone’s guess, but no doubt the community is excited to see another character joining its roster.

Rainbow Six Siege has continued to grow since its 2015 debut, adding 15 million players in 2020. Its total player count recently surpassed 70 million and shows no signs of slowing down in the year ahead. “What’s amazing about this game is that it continues to have robust growth,” said Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, during a recent earnings call. The start of a new Operation often results in a boost in player count, as veterans return to see what’s been added and new players tune in with a fresh batch of content.

In other Rainbow Six news, Ubisoft has confirmed that Rainbow Six Quarantine is not being renamed Rainbow Six Parasite. The company is still evaluating possible changes, but nothing has been made official – beyond the fact that it won’t be Parasite.

Rainbow Six Siege’s upcoming Season does not have a release date.
