Resident Evil 3 Remake in development and ‘on track for 2020 release date’

Following on from the success of the Resident Evil 2 Remake, Capcom reportedly have something else up their sleeves.

According to YouTuber SpawnWave, the Resident Evil 3: Nemesis Remake is in development, and is due to launch in 2020.

He doesn’t give much detail, apart from the fact they could unveil it at The Game Awards on December 13.

If the game does come out that late in the year, which is most likely, it could be a PlayStation 5 and next generation Xbox title, as well as PS4 and Xbox One.

Rumours have been swirling for a while that Capcom would reboot Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.

Eurogamer has a source close to the development which suggests the project has been in development for a while.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is a horror survival game which was developed by Capcom and released in 1999.

It takes places in the days before and after the events of Resident Evil 2.

The story follows Jill Valentine and her efforts to escape from a city infected with a biological weapon – the eponymous Nemesis.

Capcom have already suggested more remakes could be in the works in their integrated report 2019.

One of their growth strategies was to “Remake previous titles and/or make derivative products from them in order to continue effectively utilizing IP; secure long-term earnings.”

And considering the great success of the previous Remake, there is no reason for Capcom to not continue.

The Resident Evil 2 Remake was named Ultimate Game of the Year by Golden Joysticks, and was one one of the Game of the Year nominees for The Game Awards 2019.

At the moment Capcom is giving all their attention to Resident Evil: Project Resistance, which is expected to be released in 2020.

They have currently not confirmed whether or not they are working on a Resident Evil 3 Remake.
