Spider-Man: Miles Morales may be sold with a PS5 remaster of Marvel’s Spider-Man
Back in June, Insomniac revealed the follow-up to one of the most successful games we've seen on the PS4 to date: Marvel's Spider-Man.
A sequel to the blockbuster hit, named Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, will be arriving on the PS5 in time for the console's launch window (which is still the nice and vague 'Holiday 2020').
There's been a bit of controversy around Insomniac's upcoming follow-up, though, with some players lamenting that it won't be a 'full size' game, but rather a companion game more similar in size to Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in terms of its scope.
A new issue of Game Informer suggests that at least we'll get a remastered version of Marvel's Spider-Man on PS5 alongside the title, though.
“Miles Morales isn’t a traditional sequel, since it comes bundled with a remastered version of Insomniac’s Spider-Man that takes full advantage of the PS5 hardware,” the magazine article states.
So far, we haven't heard this byte of information from either Insomniac Games (the developer) or Sony (the publisher).
If true, this is a nice set-up, and may alleviate some of the criticisms gamers have had about the size of the upcoming PlayStation 5 title.
But it's worth mentioning, for now, this could be an error by Game Informer – where somebody, somewhere, has got their wires crossed. Until we hear from Sony that the game will be bundled with a remaster of the PS4 title, try not to get your hopes up too much.
Recently, we heard that Insomniac will be taking great advantage of the hardware on offer with Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
Over on Twitter, Insomniac wrote, "Swing through the city like never before on PS5 with an optional 4K / 60fps Performance Mode" with an attached video of Morales in his Spider Suit flinging around the city.
The game will follow on from 2018's smash hit game, but instead of Peter Parker, you'll be thrust into the shoes of the eponymous Miles Morales – but we imagine, beat for beat, a lot of the gameplay will be pretty similar.
"You'll experience a full story arc with Miles, one that's more akin to a game like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in terms of overall scope," Insomniac has stated.
"Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is an important, heartfelt, emotional and essential experience to expanding the Marvel's Spider-Man universe. And we hope it will be for you as well".
The game launches Holiday 2020 with the PS5.
