Splatoon 3 Is a Dusty Post-Apocalypse – Thanks Pearl

Splatoon 3 is officially announced, and it is headed to Nintendo Switch sometime in 2022.

At the end of today’s Nintendo Direct, they announced Splatoon 3. The trailer opened up in a desert area. The player gets to customize their squid kid before hopping on a train somewhere. The next scene shows the squid kid in the typical cityscape that Splatoon players are accustomed to seeing. Finally, Nintendo showed off one of the new maps, which takes place in the desert, post-apocalyptic area shown at the beginning of the trailer. The game will release sometime in 2022.

Splatoon 2 launched on July 21, 2017, for the Nintendo Switch. Splatoon 2 has been a game that has been consistently updated with new weapons, maps, and splat fest. The final Splatoon 2 Splatfest took place on July 18, 2019. Splatoon is a franchise that has been one of the latest smash hit franchises for Nintendo, going back to its first release on the Wii U. It also has created a passionate community of fans that have been loyal to the franchise over the years. So it is exciting for that community to get the news that the third installment in the franchise is coming soon.

Nintendo dropped a lot of news during its fifty-minute direct today. Nintendo fans got updates on Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Monster Hunter: Rise. Nintendo also announced a new Mario Golf game and The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD. There was no new Breath of the Wild sequel news, but Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma announced that information for the game would be available later this year. Pokemon was also missing from today’s direct, but there will probably be a separate Pokemon direct coming soon. Overall, it was a good Nintendo direct with many games, unless you’re a fan of Metroid.

Splatoon 3 is the big surprise announcement to end today’s Nintendo Direct. The game features a post-apocalyptic desert area, which will play a big part in the new game’s story. Expect some crazy new weapons, memorable new songs, and great new maps.
