Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order artwork leaks – full reveal tomorrow
The first glimpse of Respawn’s new Star Wars game has come accidentally via Amazon, but there’ll be some proper news on Saturday.
It seems fair to say that EA’s custodianship of the Star Wars licence has not gone well so far, with only two Battlefront games to show for itself after six years – the second of which will go down as one of gaming’s most influential failures.
Several projects have been cancelled and the only one still going is by Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment, with Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order due out this Christmas.
Nothing has ever been shown of the game before and all that’s known about it at the moment is that it’s a primarily single-player, third person action game focusing on the Jedi in the period between the prequels and original trilogy.
There’s not much to be gleaned from the artwork above, which was accidently posted on Amazon in a listing for a T-shirt, but it does show both a prequel-era Star Destroyer and original trilogy TIE Fighters – suggesting that the game will feature hardware from both sets of films.
Previous rumours have suggested the game is at least somewhat similar to 2008’s The Force Unleashed, with a serious but less edgelord tone.
One particular Reddit rumour may have been given more validity by the leaked artwork, as it mentioned a ‘backpack droid’. And that may well be what the droid in the image is – which seems to be scanning the rocks or perhaps projecting a hologram.
The rumour also suggests that the combat is comparable to Dark Souls, that the game is ‘not completely linear but not open world either’, and that you’ll play as a pre-made male protagonist.
We’ll hopefully know for sure when the game is official unveiled on Saturday at 7.30pm UK time, at the Star Wars Celebration in Chicago.
