The Biggest Gaming News For January 26, 2023

Happy Thursday, gamers! I hope you're fan of PlayStation because we've got a few stories regarding some of the platform's biggest titles for you today, including the revelation that Naughty Dog is officially done with the Uncharted series.

Naughty Dog also talked about the possibility of working on The Last of Us Part 3, while there might be trouble over at Microsoft, as the same person that leaked Hi-Fi Rush has claimed development on Starfield and Redfall isn't going very well. For all the details, just keep reading.

Naughty Dog Is "Done" With Uncharted

Naughty Dog has been relatively quiet about what it's working on at the moment, but you might want to cover your ears if you're hoping for a new Uncharted game. When talking about the studio's future projects, Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann revealed that it will be "moving on" from the Uncharted series, and that Sony has allowed it to put its "final brushstroke on that story." It's possible that a different studio could work on something Uncharted related, but don't expect Naughty Dog to bring back Nathan Drake any time soon.

The Last Of Us Part 3 Will Only Be Made If It Has "Universal Message About Love", Says Director

Talking about moving on, Druckmann also revealed that The Last of Us Part 3 might not be made after all, as Naughty Dog will only work on a third game if it has a "universal message about love." Druckmann claims that if the team can't come up with a story like that, then Naughty Dog is perfectly happy with leaving the series as it is right now. While that sounds bad for fans, Druckmann is quick to clarify that Naughty Dog is in the same stage as it was back when the first game ended, deflty leaving a lifeline for anyone with their fingers still crossed.

Hi-Fi Rush Leaker Claims Starfield And Redfall's Development Is In "Rough Shape"

With all the talk of Naughty Dog over and done with, lets move onto Xbox. It's not great reading for fans though, as the same person which recently leaked the existence and show-drop of Hi-Fi Rush has also claimed that development on Starfield and Redfall is in "rough shape." According to a leaker known as Horns, both Redfall and Starfield could do with more time in development, but Microsoft is allegedly attempting to rush both out to make up for the losses of its Azure cloud division.

DualSense Edge Breakdown Reveals Smaller Battery Than Normal DualSense

Back to PlayStation now, but for all the wrong reasons. PlayStation announced the DualSense Edge earlier this year, much to the annoyance of fans once they discovered that the controller actually has a worse battery life than the original DualSense. It turns out there's actually a reason for that though, as to make room for all the extra bells and whistles the controller has, the DualSense Edge actually has a physically smaller battery than the original controller. That $200 price point is looking pretty steep right about now.

Hi-Fi Rush Features A Cameo From The Evil Within's Protagonist

We'll end, as we always like to with these roundups, with a fun little story. Most of us who caught Xbox's Developer Direct showcase earlier this week quickly zoomed off to play Hi-Fi Rush once it was shadow-dropped. The game was made by The Evil Within developers Tango Gameworks and the studio has managed to include a cute reference to its past work. A short ways in, players can find a robot detective called SEB-AAA which is a cheeky little nod to Sebastian, the protagonist of The Evil Within.
