The Walking Dead new game Onslaught will let you play as Rick Grimes
A new game based on The Walking Dead has been announced which will let you play as fan favourite characters, including Rick Grimes and Michonne.
AMC and developer Survios have teamed up to release The Walking Dead Onslaught, a new VR game which features an original story as you take down the walker hordes.
According to the press release, the game introduces ‘the most visceral combat experience that veteran VR-studio Studios has built to date’ and will see you wield ‘iconic melee and ranged weapons using real-motion VR mechanics – and experience the variety of their graphic end results.’
Another feature highlighted is a ‘progressive dismemberment system’ – which is most likely as gruesome as it sounds.
A trailer for Onslaught doesn’t feature any gameplay footage, so it’s hard to tell how you’ll be interacting with The Walking Dead’s world.
This isn’t the only The Walking Dead VR game in the pipeline either, with The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners from Skydance Interactive also set to be released this year.
The show has had a turbulent history in video game adaptations. The initially celebrated Telltale series came to a troubled end following the studio’s closure, while Overkill’s The Walking Dead was cancelled earlier this year after poor sales.
The Walking Dead Onslaught is scheduled to release in Autumn 2019 on unspecified platforms later this year.
