Xbox Live COUNTDOWN: Free Xbox One game bonus is almost here

Xbox One owners will get the chance to claim another free game bonus this week, courtesy of Activision.

A new Call of Duty Black Ops 4 event is currently underway, allowing gamers to download and play one multiplayer mode.

This would be Blackout, Treyarch’s take on the popular Battle Royale genre that has propelled games like Fortnite and Apex Legends to the top of the charts.

Fans can head over to the Xbox Game Store right now and find the free download link for the Call of Duty special offer.

It won’t be ending until the end of April, meaning you have plenty of time to enjoy everything Blackout has to offer.

And there’s an added incentive to grabbing the new download this week, as Activision and Treyarch will be updating it with new content.

Tuesday, April 9, will see a new patch released for Call of Duty Black Ops 4 that will add a new map to the game on Xbox One.

Already available to play on PS4, Alcatraz Island is a smaller map which includes faster gameplay and more levels to contend with.

Zombies can also be found running around some areas and Alcatraz is set to join the original Blackout map on Xbox One very soon.

So the countdown can begin until the big free expansion arrives for first-person shooter fans.

Treyarch hasn’t announced a set time for this to happen, but updates usually appear in the evening, around 7pm, GMT.

Until then, Xbox gamers can enjoy a range of free trials and Deals with Gold discounts.

This week’s Deals with Gold offers will be available until April 9 and includes a lot of different Xbox One games.

Fans can also grab a few Xbox 360 titles if they fancy testing out Microsoft’s Backwards Compatibility program.

And if you can’t find anything that interests you there, Microsoft is also running a Free Play Days event, including three different games.

“Whether you’re looking to headlock your foes, to lock and load a ton of weapons, or feel the thrill of horror, get ready for an action-packed Free Play Days event,” Microsoft confirms.

“This weekend, Xbox Live Gold members can fight their way into the fray with WWE 2K19, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, and Dead by Daylight: Special Edition.

“The Free Play Days event begins Thursday, April 4 at 12:01 a.m. PT and runs through to Sunday, April 7 at 11:59 p.m. PT. You can find and install the games here. To download on console, click on the Gold member area on the home dashboard on your Xbox One.

“The games are also available for purchase so you can continue playing while keeping your Gamerscore and achievements earned in-game during the event.”

For those in the UK, all three games will be available to play until Monday, April 11, ending at around 8am.
