Xbox Live WARNING: Gamers can download a new free Xbox One game NOW
Xbox One gamers can download new free games this weekend as part of their ongoing Xbox Live Gold subscription.
These include the latest Free Play Days promotion, as well as the current Games with Gold lineup.
This weekend features just one Free Play Days game, but it’s also a very popular one.
The good news is that it won’t cost anything to download and play on the Xbox One, with an option also available to purchase it when the timed trial ends.

The latest free Xbox One game available via Xbox Live is Rocket League.
The smash-hit title from Psyonix might not be particularly new, but it does have a considerable amount of free content to explore and a vibrant and loyal player base.
The Xbox One game became available to play for free on Wednesday, July 10, and will remain free to play for Gold members until Monday, July 15.
It was announced by Microsoft’s Major Nelson earlier this week in a blog post and has been confirmed to boast the full game experience, meaning it’s not just a short tech demo.
Developers Psyonix has revealed that Rocket League is 50% off to buy, with all progress carrying over from the Free Play Days event.
This new price drop means Rocket League is at its cheapest for some time and can be picked up for £10.00 instead of the usual £19.99.
The vehicular footy mashup can also be downloaded and played as part of an existing Xbox Game Pass membership.
“Hit the Rocket League pitch by yourself in 1v1 Duels, or invite friends and play 2v2, 3v3, or the chaotic 4v4 mode,” a message from Max Parker, Editorial Manager at Psyonix reads.
“There’s also Hoops Mode for basketball fans, Snow Day that combines Rocket League and hockey, and the zany Drop Shot and Rumble modes. All playlists can be played against online opponents or locally for couch co-op fun.
“Also live right now is the totally tubular ’80s-themed in-game event, Radical Summer. Earn Cassettes from playing Online Matches, which can be redeemed for unique in-game items inspired by ’80s pop culture. Jump into Casual, Competitive, or Extra modes to earn Cassettes, or try out the new limited-time mode, Spike Rush.
“Players will also earn items from Rocket Pass 3, Rocket League‘s timed progression system. Earn XP from Online Matches and by completing Weekly Challenges to earn in-game items that can only be found in this Rocket Pass. Progress through Rocket Pass for free or upgrade to Rocket Pass Premium to expand your item collection even further.
“Any items that are earned during the Free Play Days event will carry over to the full game if you decide to purchase Rocket League during or following the event.”
Like some of the most immersive multiplayer games out there, Rocket League is simple to pick up but hard to master.
It takes some time to learn the angles and speed needed to pull off those goal-winning moments, and it also comes with the added crossplay bonus.
So this weekend’s Rocket League trial also makes it possible to team up with friends on Nintendo Switch, PC and PS4.
There hasn’t been a ton of new free-to-play games released on the Microsoft Store of late, leaving the Games with Gold lineup your best bet.
These include Inside for Xbox One and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for Xbox 360 and Backwards Compatibility.
New games will be added next week, including Big Crown: Showdown for Xbox One and Meet the Robinsons on July 16.
