Castlevania Spiritual Successor Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Will Be Released Next Month
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the spiritual successor to Castlevania by Koji Igarashi, will be released will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on June 18 and on the Nintendo Switch on June 25.
Igarashi’s newest title began as a Kickstarter project in 2015 that raised over $5 million and was originally scheduled for release in 2017. Last year, it was delayed into 2019 to “raise the quality level” and the PlayStation Vita version was cancelled.
In the below release date announcement video, Igarashi takes on the issues fans have had with previous footage of the game and promises to “prove them wrong” by showing how much it has improved.
Set in 18th century England, Ritual of the Night players will take on the role of Miriam and take the fight against the summoner Gebel and “countless minions and bosses” through a demon-infested castle. Miriam has been scarred with an alchemist curse the is slowly crystallizing her body and she will have to fight through this castle to save herself and humanity.
Ritual of the Night is a 2D side-scrolling action RPG with 3D graphics and music by Castlevania: Symphony of the Night’s Michiru Yamane and Resident Evil’s Ippo Yamada. It also features classic “Igavania” gameplay with Igarashi’s biggest castle yet.
At E3 2018, we described this title as the “Castlevania game you’ve been waiting for,” and next month you will be able to see for yourself.
