Streets of Rage 4’s new character is a guitar-playing badass

Streets of Rage 4 will bring a new street-level brawler into the mix: Cherry Hunter, the daughter of Adam Hunter from the original Streets of Rage. She fights wielding an electric guitar and comes armed with skill learned from another Streets of Rage vet, Axel Stone.

Cherry was trained in self-defense by Adam and Axel, and in her debut trailer, we see her pulling off some familiar moves, like Axel’s uppercut. But Cherry’s got some sweet skills of her own, like a guitar slide that lets her knock down enemies and an amplified guitar strum that shocks her foes. Of course, she can also bash bad guys with her ax. She looks like a speedy brawler in the latest look at Streets of Rage 4, which is part of a Gamescom 2019 reveal.

Here’s Cherry’s official bio:

Trained by her father and Axel, Cherry learned self-defense from a young age. Her interest in following in her father’s footsteps and becoming a cop soon faded out, replaced by her love of music. Nowadays, she plays with her electro progressive rock band in some of the most dangerous places in Wood Oak City. She may look young but make no mistake – she is a seasoned veteran of kicking ass and taking names.

Cherry Hunter joins returning Streets of Rage vets Axel and Blaze Fielding in Streets of Rage 4. A fourth playable character has been teased in silhouette.

Developers Lizardcube, Guard Crush Games, and Dotemu also confirmed release platforms for Streets of Rage 4 today. The game is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. Streets of Rage 4 does not have an announced release date.
